I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from University of Southern Mississippi and a Masters in Applied Behavioral Studies from Oklahoma State University. My Professional Certification is (K-12) Cross Categorical. Before coming to Excelsior, I taught for 10 years in Special Education and in General Education classrooms, most recently leading a mild moderate classroom. 5 years in Tulsa, Oklahoma public schools and 5 at Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools. At my previous school district I helped write District-wide Classroom Curriculum as well as drove emerging technology use into the classroom environment. I am TEACCH certified, Highly Qualified, and was in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. This is my second year as a Kindergarten teacher at Excelsior. I had previously taken some time off from teaching to have my son, Travis. During Travis's Kindergarten year, I was Lead Parent and volunteered in assisting in collecting reading levels and held a small group for guided reading during literacy centers. This year he will begin his third year at Excelsior in 2nd grade.
